Maserati Levante

Maserati Levante

LEVANTE

Maserati’s first-ever SUV launched in the UK as the Levante Diesel, with an ample 275hp and 600Nm of torque. Next came the scintillating petrol-engined Levante S, with 430hp, delivering 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds. Somewhere in between these two comes the Levante, offering the happy medium of 350hp, 500Nm of torque and acceleration from 0-62mph in a highly impressive 6.0 seconds. For many, this is the Levante that offers a Goldilocks-like ‘just right’ blend of refinement, power and efficiency.

Overview

Maserati has managed to provide the space and versatility that buyers demand of a luxury SUV within an elegant, grand-tourer like shape. From the sleek profile to the coupé-like tapered back window it’s pure Maserati, even before you note the triple vents on the front wings, trident front grille badge and Saetta lightning-bolt logo.

Levante is a shade over 5 metres in length and not as lofty as some SUVs at just 1679mm. Inside the upholstery and trim is in premium leather, with a choice of fine wood veneers. The rear seat splits asymmetrically for carrying long loads.

Technology is comprehensive; the instrument cluster features two analogue gauges for speedo and tachometer split by a TFT information display, and the centre of the dash features an 8.4″ Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit. With very few buttons plus a highly responsive interface, it is designed to help the driver maintain focus on the road ahead. The system features both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® mirroring functions. In addition, for iPhone® users, Apple’s Siri® system acts as a personal assistant, allowing you to control infotainment functions via voice command.

Options include a Harman Kardon premium sound system or, for the ultimate in audio power and fidelity, a 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Full LED adaptive matrix headlights are also available as an option.

Technology

Maserati’s smooth, soulful 3.0 V6 petrol engine develops 350HP in the Levante and produces 500Nm of torque, powering all four wheels via an 8-speed ZF transmission. In normal conditions, the Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system sends all its power to the rear wheels for a faithful evocation of Maserati GT handling, but can divert up to 50% of the torque to the front wheels in just 150 milliseconds if wheelspin is detected. A mechanical limited slip differential at the rear is unique in its class and further evidence that Maserati intends the Levante to set the dynamic benchmark in its class. The Levante also features Sport Skyhook suspension, which continuously monitors body and wheel movement, damper settings and suspension height. Depending on the selected driving mode, Skyhook can adjust the damping rate separately for each wheel.
